Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our image tools and privacy practices

Privacy Questions

Are my images stored on your servers?

No, My Image Tools does not store your images after processing. For client-side tools, your images never leave your browser. For server-side processing, images are temporarily uploaded, processed, and immediately deleted within 5 minutes.

Do you collect any personal information?

We collect minimal information necessary to operate the service. This includes basic access logs (IP address, browser type) which are automatically deleted after 30 days. We don't require accounts or collect names, emails, or other personal identifiers.

How do you handle image metadata (EXIF data)?

For privacy, we automatically strip all metadata from images during processing. This includes location data, camera information, and any other embedded metadata. The processed images you download will contain no EXIF data.

Technical Questions

What's the maximum file size I can process?

For browser-based tools: Up to 50MB depending on your device's memory. For server-side tools: Up to 25MB. Larger files may cause performance issues in browser-based tools.

Which image formats do you support?

We support all common formats: JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, and SVG. Some tools have format limitations (e.g., SVG only works with vector-based tools). Our converter supports conversion between all these formats.

Why does some processing require server-side?

Advanced features like AI enhancement require significant computing power that isn't practical in browsers. We clearly mark which tools require server processing and ensure all uploads are encrypted and immediately deleted.

Feature Questions

How does the background removal work?

Our browser-based background remover uses advanced computer vision algorithms to detect foreground subjects. It works best with high-contrast images and clearly defined subjects. For complex images, try our AI-powered server version.

Can I batch process multiple images?

Currently, we support single-image processing for most tools. Batch processing is available for our format converter tool (up to 10 images at once). We're working to expand batch capabilities.

Is there a way to save my editing preferences?

Since we don't require accounts, preferences are saved locally in your browser. You can enable "Remember my settings" in each tool to maintain preferences between sessions on the same device.

What third-party services do you use?

We use Cloudflare for CDN and security, and AWS for server processing. For error monitoring we use Sentry (anonymous data only). Fonts and icons are loaded locally after initial page load to prevent tracking.

Can I request deletion of my data?

Yes. Since we don't store images, this primarily applies to access logs. You can email support@myimagetools.com with approximate dates of access and we'll delete any logs we may have.

What's the difference between client-side and server-side tools?

Client-side tools process images entirely in your browser - your images never leave your device. Server-side tools temporarily upload images to our secure servers for more complex processing, then immediately delete them.

Do you offer API access to your tools?

Not currently, but we're developing an API for developers. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it launches.

Why is a tool not working in my browser?

Some tools require modern browser features. We recommend using the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Safari has some limitations with large file processing. Mobile browsers may have reduced capabilities.

How can I improve processing speed?

For browser tools: Close other tabs/apps, use a computer instead of mobile, and reduce image size if possible. For server tools: Processing speed depends on our queue - try during off-peak hours if possible.
